Tandem is a mobile app for language exchange, not a lesson-based course. If you want to practice Vietnamese with real people, it lets you find native or fluent speakers and talk by text, voice notes, audio calls, or video calls. Vietnamese is listed among its supported languages, so it can work for learners who want live practice instead of drills.

The app is strongest for speaking and listening. You can search for partners by language and interests, then use built-in tools like message correction, translation, saved expressions, and group audio rooms called Language Parties. Tandem also offers a paid Pro plan with extra filters, more language settings, unlimited translations, audio transcription, and an AI Toolkit with grammar help and message support.
